多伦多警员遭枪杀　SIU裁定还击警员毋须被起诉

【星岛综合报道】安省特别调查组（SIU）周五公布多伦多警员Pinizzotto今年6月执行搜查令期间遭枪杀的调查报告，指19岁疑犯Bennett在北约克一个住宅单位内，近距离向43岁紧急应变特遣队（ETF）警员Marc Pinizzotto连开3枪，导致对方死亡。另一名开枪还击的警员则毋须面对刑事指控。

事发于6月11日清晨，ETF警员到Black Creek Drive及Trethewey Drive一带执行搜查令，调查涉及枪械的案件。报告指，Marc Pinizzotto进入单位后，一名19岁男子突然从睡房出现并向他开枪。Marc Pinizzotto随即还击4枪，之后倒地；另一名警员则先后开枪14次。

Marc Pinizzotto送往Sunnybrook医院后证实不治。疑犯亦身中多枪，伤势危殆送院。事发时单位内另有4人，均没有受伤。

SIU总监Joseph Martino认为，警员开枪是为了自卫，当时面对持枪疑犯，别无选择，只能使用致命武力；另一名警员再次开枪时，亦有合理理由相信疑犯仍持有枪械，构成致命威胁，因此决定不提出刑事指控。

警方其后确认疑犯为Nicholas Bennett，并控以一级谋杀，案件将于11月4日再度提堂。

多伦多警队总长 Myron Demkiw表示，调查虽已结束，但警队失去Pinizzotto的伤痛并未减退，形容他是尽忠职守的同僚，将永远铭记其牺牲。

In the months since losing their colleague and friend, they have demonstrated tremendous resilience while continuing to serve the people of Toronto with dedication.
